How did I get here?

August 2014

This is where it all began. Calif-orn-i-a! Well, as far as I can remember noticing that something was not right.  I had been having some issues with my right thumb for a while at this point.  I remember having a slight problem tying my shoes on a trip from Texas to SoCal.   I pretty much wrote it off as potentially being carpal tunnel syndrome  since I was a mail man and put substantial wear and tear on my hands.

I had already been to the doctor concerning CTS so no big deal.  I will deal with it when I get home. The trip goes off without a hitch;  we enjoy our time in LaLa Land , everything is good !

Not long after returning home, something ironic happened.  The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge takes the world by storm! What must have been millions of people take turns dumping tubs of ice water over their heads while calling on friends to do likewise.  The whole point , to raise awareness as well as make donations to help in the fight to cure Lou Gehrig’s disease.  It was a great success, though sadly, many had no knowledge of ALS and still don’t. So, partake in the challenge ,we did.  Guilty of the same ignorance.

In a cruel twist of fate, in just a couple of months , I would soon begin a journey which changed my life forever…
